I am not sure how many of you know that I am a "certified professional home stager". I have decided with the new web site it is time for me to share my knowledge and perhaps you can share with me how my "Tips" have helped you.
Did you know that buyers and guests make assumptions about what your home is like inside as they are walking up to the front door. So what do you think? A little scarey and daunting?
Here are a few small suggestions that will take your entrance & door from Ho-Hum..... to Wow!
- Replace or paint the front door. In so many of the articles and courses about home staging, they say that the colour used should be neutral so that your home will appeal to a broadest range of people. This is true, but not always. For a door, you can go for that pop of colour! Burnt orange or red are quite often great colour choices. Be brave go for some colour! If you are of the shy sort and want to play it safe go for a dark charcoal colour.
- Dont forget the door hardware. Often looks like it could use some tender loving care as well. That is no problem, just take the hardware off and spray paint it!
- Add a kickplate, perhaps a new welcome mat, clean, paint or replace tired looking house numbers and don't forget those light fixtures while you are at it.
- Lastly add flowers or plants. For us in Ontario it might be a little early for flowers and plants. But....I have an idea.... for any of you that have a winter container near the door with some ever green still in it...... take out the ribbon and add one that looks a little more "Spring" like.
Hope you have enjoyed the first edition of...... "Tena's Tips". Love to hear your comments or see your pictures.
